Dobby Triumphs at Scouts Annual Balloon Debate

Picture the scene……….a hot air balloon is in trouble and losing height, about to plunge into shark infested waters. To keep it flying weight must be thrown overboard. This year scouts drew names of fictional characters and prepared their costumes and arguments. After each round of debate, three scouts were chucked out of the balloon. Our evening was run by a very dapper Debate Master (Russell) and competition was brutal. Bribery and threats were commonplace and the three members of the judging panel (Richard, Charlie and Stan) were happy to accept large quantities of chocolates and sweets for extra points! Dobby, Dr Who and ‘He who shall not be named’ made it to our semi finals with Dobby triumphing in the final vote. For pictures of all the competitors follow the link on the albums page.

Beaver Sleepover

When we first arrived on Friday night we played with the puzzles until everybody had arrived. We then got shown to our rooms and put our bags away. We then we for a walk in the forest in the dark so we had to take our torches. Dragonfly made a joke telling us that we might see a gruffalo in there but we didn’t. We walked to the campfire and sat down to sing some christmas songs and Santa made a surprise visit. We then went back to base and had some playtime before going to bed.

On Saturday we woke up, had some playtime and then got dressed. It was then time for my breakfast of sausages, toast and cereal …. Yummy! After we had cleared up we did some crafting. We made a Santa and a Christmas tree decoration to hang on my Christmas tree at home. We packed our things away then had some playtime before going home. I had a great time and definitely want to go again next time! Thank you to all the leaders for making it such fun!

Scouts Carol Singing at Kingfisher Court

Tonight we have been to Kingfisher Court carol singing with the elderly residents. We received a very warm welcome and hope they enjoyed it as much as we did. Some of the scouts played instruments, we all sang, some read Christmas poetry then we served tea and mince pies and swapped stories with the residents. They have kindly invited us back next year. Happy Christmas to All.
