8L on the County Cub Night Hike

It was Cub Night Hike 2015a really long and tiring walk but also really fun! I did 6 check points and got a glow band. It was dark but I was with my friend Nihal, so wasn’t scared. Just before the 6th check point, Ian gave me an energy bar which made me go faster! I would like to go and do it again!

The hike was so much fun, it was not what I expected at all. We were taken by bus to the starting point to begin the walk, Continue reading

Cub Summer Camp @ Ferny Crofts

Ferny croft was such an amazing experience, I was so nervous and excited at the same time as it was a long time away from my family, but I can honestly say every part was enjoyable, we started the week by arriving at the campsite and setting up all the tents, aOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAnd settling in, the next day we did some activities like crate building, abseiling, rock climbing and the zip wire and many more, my favourite that day was abseiling I was so pleased I was brave enough to do it. Hall Clean Up!

Thanks to everyone who came along this morning to help blitz the inside of the hall (plus Mike de-mossing the roof!). We had committee members, leaders, parents and young people from all three sections turn out to help scrub the hall top to bottom – with such a lot of helpers it was all done in three and a half hours and is now sparkling and for a short time smells pretty good!

Cub Camp at Eaton Vale, Norfolk

10.30am Wednesday 7th August saw 19 Cubs, 2 Scouts, 4 Young Leaders, 2 Beaver Leaders and 6 Cub Leaders board 2 mini buses, a van and a very full Vauxhall zafira en route to Eaton Vale camp site just outside Norwich, Norfolk for 5 fun packed days.

The first job was to erect the mess tents, then a well deserved lunch break. Once the Cubs were all replenished it was time to put up everyone’s tents.

There was a very full itinerary for the 5 days including indoor wall climbing, rafting, crate stacking and abseiling.  Continue reading

District Cub Bell Boat Races 2013

District Champions 2013! Our team of 8 cubs and 2 transition beavers rowed to a clean sweep, winning every race this afternoon. It was very hot day, and they gave it their all, smothered in suncream and with parents, grandparents, families and friends cheering them on.

Scouts Bike Ride & Geocache Challenge.

A brilliant day out geocaching on bikes around the Greenway thanks to Richard and Jay’s excellent organising! Two groups left Letchworth early in the morning hoping to avoid the worst of the heat, the plan was that one group would cycle clockwise and the other anti- clockwise. They all had plenty of water on board as the day was forecast to be extremely hot.
