Scouts Carol Singing at Kingfisher Court

Tonight we have been to Kingfisher Court carol singing with the elderly residents. We received a very warm welcome and hope they enjoyed it as much as we did. Some of the scouts played instruments, we all sang, some read Christmas poetry then we served tea and mince pies and swapped stories with the residents. They have kindly invited us back next year. Happy Christmas to All.

Hall Clean Up!

Thanks to everyone who came along this morning to help blitz the inside of the hall (plus Mike de-mossing the roof!). We had committee members, leaders, parents and young people from all three sections turn out to help scrub the hall top to bottom – with such a lot of helpers it was all done in three and a half hours and is now sparkling and for a short time smells pretty good!

The Big Tidy Up

On the 14th of September 8th Letchworth Scouts and Beavers took part in The Big Tidy Up. A event that sees people in there local area get their pickers at the ready and go litter picking. It was a enjoyable morning everyone had lots of fun and felt a real sense of achievement.

Altogether we collected 28 bin Bags of litter, all that rubbish just walking around the grange recreation ground. We found lots of wrappers, bottles, packets and glass. Everyone had a very enjoyable morning and had fun helping the community.

Scouts, Yorkshire July 2013

This summer, following regular requests from the scouts at our planning meetings for caving and gorge walking, 23 scouts, young leaders and leaders headed off to Thornthwaite Scout Campsite near Pateley Bridge in Yorkshire for a week of fun and outdoor activities – for some a chance to develop their skills further and for others an opportunity to try new activities. We had a fantastic time  thanks to everyone involved – including instructors from How Stean Gorge who took us caving, gorge walking, climbing and on their via ferrata and instructors from River Mountain Experience who took our older scouts and explorers on a canoe river trip. Scouts Bike Ride & Geocache Challenge.

A brilliant day out geocaching on bikes around the Greenway thanks to Richard and Jay’s excellent organising! Two groups left Letchworth early in the morning hoping to avoid the worst of the heat, the plan was that one group would cycle clockwise and the other anti- clockwise. They all had plenty of water on board as the day was forecast to be extremely hot.
